Labradors have a dense double coat — a soft thick undercoat beneath a shorter weather-resistant top coat. This combination causes year-round shedding with two heavy blow-out seasons each spring and autumn.

The undercoat is fine and clingy, embedding into fabric and resisting standard brushes entirely. Most generic tools are designed for single-coat breeds and simply move Lab fur around rather than removing it.

How often should I wet wash my Lab?

Labs have a natural oily top coat, like human hair!

These oils are designed to protect their skin and

undercoat from the elements.

Any chemicals that are used during the wash will 

strip away the natural oils, specialist recommendations

are that Labradors are only wet washed a maximum of 

once per month.

What products should I use when washing?

We recommend natural shampoos, ideally with a coconut oil base, which helps replace the natural oils on your Lab's coat. Work the shampoo in with the gloves for an even lather.

How can I make bath time enjoyable?

Bath time can be stressful for Labradors, we suggest 

providing positive reinforcement training with food.
A simple way of doing this is luring them to their bathing 

spot with their favourite snack (or two) and taking their

mind off the mental discomfort they experience.

 

Can I use the gloves dry?

Yes. Used dry, the soft silicone tips are gentle enough for the face, ears, paws and belly, and lift loose fur between brushing sessions. When you're done, peel off the captured fur and give the gloves a quick rinse.
